Your Questions, Answered

  • Pedal Set Go provides practical, inclusive bike education and support across Sydney. Our services include:

    • Learn to Ride (kids, teens and adults): step-by-step coaching from balance through to independent pedalling, with a clear practice plan.

    • Back On Your Bike: refreshers for people returning to riding or feeling wobbly.

    • Confident City Rider (Intermediate) and on-road skills: safer riding strategies, road positioning, scanning, signalling and real-world riding choices.

    • E-bike safety training: hands-on, real-life training for safer starting and stopping, effective braking, speed management, cornering, low-speed control, hazard awareness, and riding with others. Practical coaching and feedback is more effective than an online course because safe riding is a physical skill, not just information.

    • NSW road rules for bike riders: clear, plain-language guidance on NSW road rules for bikes and e-bikes, applied to real situations (intersections, shared paths, overtaking, lane positioning and sharing space).

    • Guided rides: low-pressure group rides on carefully planned routes to build confidence and connect people and places by bike.

    • Private bike tours: tailored rides based on your interests and pace (food tours, art and culture tours, local neighbourhood tours, and Sydney highlights).

    • Bike maintenance education: practical skills to keep bikes safe and rolling, including basic safety checks and everyday maintenance.

    • Events and community activations: inclusive bike education events that build community connection and placemaking, often combining riding support, skill-building, and bike maintenance knowledge.

    • Workplace programs: safer riding and e-bike safety training for teams, with a strong focus on practical skills and WHS.

  • We can’t guarantee an exact timeframe because confidence, coordination, and comfort vary from person to person. That said, most riders are pedalling independently within a 2‑hour lesson.

Whether you choose a 1‑hour or 2‑hour first lesson, everybody leaves with the skills to practice safely on their own, including stopping and starting, steering, braking, and a clear practice plan.

    Children 10 and under

    • We recommend starting with a 1‑hour lesson ($230). Shorter sessions usually suit energy levels, focus, and comfort while getting used to the bike seat.

    • Younger children often progress fastest with short practice sessions between lessons. To support that, we also teach parents, carers, and supporting adults how to help at home: what to practice, how to set it up, and what to look for before transitioning to pedals (for example, confident gliding, feet up, straight-line control, and smooth braking).

    • This approach often reduces the likelihood of needing more than two 1‑hour lessons, although it still depends on confidence and comfort with momentum.

    • Bikes and helmets are available, but using the child’s own bike is ideal for home practice. If your child brings their own bike, we can set it up correctly during the lesson (including seat height and fit) and, where appropriate, remove pedals and training wheels so the bike can be used in balance mode.

    Ages 12+ and adults

    • We recommend a 2‑hour lesson ($330). This gives enough time to build balance, confidence with momentum, and consistent pedalling.

    • Bike and helmet hire are included.

    • Most riders in this age group are up and pedalling independently by the end of 2 hours.

    After the first lesson

After your first lesson (1 or 2 hours), you’ll have the skills to practice safely on your own, with the option for follow‑up lessons if needed.em description

  • Learn to Ride (traffic-free lessons)
At the moment, all Learn to Ride lessons are held at the netball courts at Tempe Recreation Reserve (Tempe). We use Tempe because it’s one of the rare places in Sydney that is large, quiet, predictable, and low-pressure — which matters a lot for nervous or self-conscious learners. It’s consistently been the best option for both learners and instructors.

Our other recommended Learn to Ride location in Haberfield is currently unavailable due to works and is not expected to reopen until April 2026.

Is Centennial Park suitable for Learn to Ride?
In most cases, no. It’s often too busy and unpredictable for beginners, particularly nervous learners, and that makes progress harder and the experience less comfortable.

Can you come to me for Learn to Ride?
Sometimes, but we strongly recommend Tempe. Finding a genuinely suitable traffic-free space is difficult, and if a location turns out to be busy or not appropriate on the day, it can reduce the value of the session. If you’d like to request a different location, please contact us before booking so we can confirm suitability. Travel time may also apply — if it takes you an hour to get there, it takes us an hour too.

Confident City Rider, E-bike Safety and on-road courses
These sessions can often be run closer to you, because they’re designed around real streets and shared paths. Tempe is also an excellent starting point for on-road progression, with shared paths and quieter streets that build in complexity as confidence grows.

If you have a location preference, get in touch by email, text, or phone and we’ll talk through what will work best.

  • You can book online or contact us and we’ll help you choose the best lesson. Every session is tailored to the individual, so you don’t need to be 100% sure before you book.

    1) Choose how you’d like to book

    • Book online: Purchase a lesson or course on our website.

    • Prefer to book with help: Text or email us and we’ll recommend what suits your goals (learn to ride, refreshers, e-bike safety, NSW road rules, or on-road confidence).

    2) Not sure what to choose?
Don’t worry — we’ll guide you. Tell us:

    • who the lesson is for (child, teen, adult)

    • what your goal is (learn to ride, confidence, e-bike safety, road riding/NSW road rules)

    • any previous bike-riding experience, including balance bike or training wheels

    • where you’d like to ride (traffic-free or on-street)

    3) Do I need my own bike?

    • Learn to Ride lessons: Bike and helmet hire are included. Just tell us your height so we can set you up properly.

    • On-street lessons (e.g., Confident City Rider/Intermediate): Most riders use their own bike. Bike hire can be arranged at an additional cost if needed — let us know in advance.

    4) Unsure if your bike is right (or want to try an e-bike)?
Contact us. We can help you work out whether your bike is suitable, recommend options, or talk through e-bike choices.

    5) Have a specific date in mind?
We can be busy at peak times. If you need a particular date, location, bike hire, or have specific requirements, it’s best to contact us before purchasing online so we can confirm availability.

    6) Best way to reach us
We’re happy to talk things through by phone. If you call while we’re teaching we may miss it, because learners get our full attention. If you don’t reach us, please text or email and ask for a call back, and include a couple of times that suit you.

    7) Can I book without using the website?
Yes. We can confirm your booking by email and you will have several payment options once everything is locked in. The website is not the only way to schedule.

  • We combine a thoughtful, human-centered approach with clear communication and reliable results. It’s not just what we do—it’s how we do it that sets us apart.

Pedal Set Go is a women-led, inner-Sydney bike education team focused on real-world riding: comfort, confidence and safer choices for everyday life. We tailor lessons to the individual, not a one-size plan.

    • Outcome-led and practical: We start with your goals and teach toward real-world outcomes — comfort, confidence and safer riding. We don’t do “work for work’s sake”; we tailor the session so your time and money goes into meaningful progress, with a clear plan for what to practice next.

    • We’re not a bike shop (and that’s the point): We complement local bike shops by helping people become safe, confident riders. If you’ve bought a bike or e-bike and then felt too nervous to ride after a near miss, we can help you rebuild confidence and skills so the bike actually gets used.

    • Skills that change your day-to-day riding experience: We teach practical on-road strategies including scanning, positioning, speed control, intersection approach, and communication — plus how to stay calm and make safer choices around stressful behaviour from other road users.

    • Inclusive by design: We support different learning styles and needs, and focus on a calm, confidence-building approach for everybody.

    • More value at events: If you book our mechanics for a bike tune-up event, you’re getting more than mechanical support. Our mechanics are also experienced bike educators, so they can teach bike safety checks, learn to ride tips, basic maintenance skills, and practical riding know-how such as e-bike safety, NSW road rules, and route choices for safer, more comfortable riding. It’s better value for money because the support helps people keep riding, not just keep the bike running.

  • You can reach us any time via our contact page or email. Messages sent outside business hours are welcome, but we usually respond during business hours.

We aim to respond quickly. We’re a micro business and when we’re out teaching, our priority is to give learners our full attention, so we may miss calls. During busy periods it can take a couple of days to reply, but we will get back to you.

    Lesson times (by appointment)
Lessons are by appointment and we offer flexible times across the week (including weekends), subject to availability. If you have a specific date or time in mind, please get in touch and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

    If your enquiry is time-sensitive
Text what you need to 0435 295 291, and we’ll respond as soon as we’re off the bike.

Why our prices reflect premium quality
Our fees cover professional instruction, high-quality equipment (where included), and the safety and operational requirements needed to deliver sessions responsibly. The focus is on real outcomes: comfort, confidence, and safer riding.

    Not sure what you need?
