1-Hour Private Bike Lesson – Learn to Ride in Sydney

For Kids and Adults | $230 | One-on-One Instruction

Looking for a supportive and personalised way to learn to ride a bike in Sydney? Our 1-hour private session is ideal for younger children or adults who prefer a shorter, focused lesson with a qualified instructor.

Pedal Set Go provides expert, non-sporty bike education designed for confidence, comfort, and real-life riding. We are Sydney’s trusted team of professional bike instructors—not volunteers or sports coaches.

Who This Is For

Kids:

  • Recommended for all children under 10

  • Especially helpful if they haven’t had much experience on a balance bike

  • A great option for neurodiverse children or those who benefit from quiet, one-on-one environments

  • Designed to build confidence with play-based learning and no pressure

Adults:

  • Suitable for adults who are less mobile, anxious, or need a gentler start

  • Welcoming for neurodiverse adults who prefer structured, calm, and personalised support

  • Perfect first step before progressing to longer or on-road sessions

What’s Included

  • 1-hour private lesson with an experienced cycling instructor

  • Calm, flat off-road locations like netball courts or bike paths

  • Personalised guidance based on skill level, mobility, or past experience

  • Safety check and setup for your own bike if provided

  • Conversion of kids' bikes into balance bikes when appropriate

  • Techniques to support starting, stopping, balance and coordination

  • Practical advice for what to do next—whether it’s more practice or a follow-up lesson

Equipment

We provide high-quality bikes and helmets for both children and adults.

However, we strongly recommend that children use their own bike wherever possible.
Kids typically need to practise between lessons to build balance, confidence, and independence. Learning on their own bike helps them progress faster and reduces anxiety as they get used to its feel and setup.

In fact, we’d rather your money go toward a good-quality kids' bike than extra lessons.
A well-fitted, second-hand bike is often far more beneficial than booking more sessions or buying a new bike from a department store. We’re here to set your child up to ride on their own, not keep them dependent on instruction.

We recommend Kidvelo bikes for younger riders.
Kidvelo is an Australian-designed brand offering lightweight, durable bikes that grow with your child. Their balance-to-pedal design makes them more affordable and sustainable than buying separate bikes.

BYK bikes are also an excellent option, whether new or secondhand. Both brands are well-designed for kids and make learning smoother, safer and more enjoyable—especially when paired with regular practice.

For adults, we’re happy to provide a bike and helmet if needed.
Many adults are able to make progress within one or two lessons, so using one of our bikes is a practical option if you don’t have your own yet.

Acknowledgement of Country

Pedal Set Go acknowledges the Gadigal and Wangal peoples of the Eora Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the lands where we live, work, and ride. We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across the many lands we travel through.

We recognise that for over 65,000 years, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have welcomed visitors to Country through ceremony — often offering safe passage, guidance, and spiritual protection. While only Traditional Custodians can deliver a Welcome to Country, as non-Indigenous people we acknowledge this enduring tradition with deep respect.

In that spirit, we honour the continuing connection First Nations peoples have to land, waters, skies, and culture — and we commit to creating riding experiences that are safe, inclusive, and grounded in respect for Country and community.
