Cargo Bike Confidence – On-Road Skills + Theory (3.5 hours)

$430.00

$430 per person | Private session

For regular riders new to cargo bikes and looking to improve safety, handling, and traffic skills

Already riding but want to feel safer in traffic? Let’s take it to the streets.

This private cargo bike training session is for people who already ride a bike but want to grow their confidence using a cargo or e-cargo bike in real traffic conditions—for work, family, or everyday errands.

You'll start with an off-road warm-up and theory session, followed by an on-street guided ride to develop practical strategies for safer, calmer riding in your local area.

This session is ideal if you:

  • Ride regularly and want to transition to using a cargo bike

  • Commute, deliver goods, or carry passengers by bike

  • Feel nervous riding a bigger setup in mixed traffic

  • Want to refine lane positioning, signalling and visibility

  • Have had a near-miss or bad experience and want support

What You’ll Learn

  • Confident road positioning and intersection navigation

  • Planning safer, lower-stress routes

  • Riding with and without bike lanes

  • Braking and gear shifting under load

  • Safe starts and stops at junctions or signals

  • Calm responses in unexpected situations

  • How to ride predictably and be seen

Theory Included

Before heading out, we’ll take time to cover essential theory—rider responsibilities, road rules, and decision-making on different types of infrastructure.

Equipment & Location

  • Bring your own cargo or e-cargo bike (electric or regular)

  • Hire available for $200 (limited – please enquire)

  • Helmet required

  • We’ll choose a location that matches your goals—near home, work, or your usual delivery/school run route—provided there is a quiet traffic free area to practice control skills prior to heading out.

Book Your Session

This session helps turn experience into confidence. You’ll finish feeling more capable, safer, and ready to take on real-world routes with purpose.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need my own cargo bike?

Not necessarily. If you don’t have one yet, we can provide a cargo bike for training at an additional cost of $200. Just contact us first to confirm availability.

Can I bring my e-cargo bike?

Yes! We work with both regular and electric cargo bikes. Your session will be tailored to the type of bike you ride.

Where will the lesson take place?

We suggest a quiet off-road location near your home, workplace or school to begin, and build up to on-road riding as your confidence grows.

Is this course suitable for beginners?

This session is for people who already know how to ride a standard bike but want to learn cargo bike handling and road confidence. If you're brand new to bike riding, check out our Learn to Ride or [Back On Your Bike] sessions first.

All prices are per person, but we’re happy to run paired sessions for colleagues or family members. Let us know at the time of booking.

Acknowledgement of Country

Pedal Set Go acknowledges the Gadigal and Wangal peoples of the Eora Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the lands where we live, work, and ride. We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across the many lands we travel through.

We recognise that for over 65,000 years, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have welcomed visitors to Country through ceremony — often offering safe passage, guidance, and spiritual protection. While only Traditional Custodians can deliver a Welcome to Country, as non-Indigenous people we acknowledge this enduring tradition with deep respect.

In that spirit, we honour the continuing connection First Nations peoples have to land, waters, skies, and culture — and we commit to creating riding experiences that are safe, inclusive, and grounded in respect for Country and community.
